How a heat pump heats a house in a South Sound January

Our winters sit near freezing and stay damp for months. That is close to ideal heat pump weather. Here is what happens on a 35°F morning.

1. The outdoor unit pulls heat from cold air

Even 35°F air holds heat. Refrigerant in the outdoor coil is colder than the air, so heat moves into it. That is why the fan runs and the unit hums quietly in winter.

2. The line set carries it inside

The compressor squeezes the refrigerant, which raises its temperature, and two copper lines carry it through the wall. No fuel is burned to make the heat; electricity only moves it.

3. The indoor unit releases it

Your air handler or a ductless head blows air across the warm coil. The air comes out steady and even instead of the blast-then-nothing of an old furnace.

4. Backup covers the rare hard freeze

On the few nights each year that drop well below freezing, electric strips or your existing gas furnace help out. In August the whole thing runs in reverse and cools the house.

Our oil furnace died the week before Thanksgiving. They had heat back that night and came back the next week with three heat pump options on paper. No pressure at all.

The tech texted a photo before he arrived, showed me the bad part, and gave me the price before touching anything. That is all I wanted.

We had baseboards in a 1960s rambler. Three ductless heads later the house is even and quiet. They covered the line set so it looks tidy from the street.

Questions we hear every October

Still not sure? The front desk in the corner can answer the quick ones.

How fast can someone come out when we have no heat?

In this demo the promise reads: call before noon and we can usually be there the same day. The owner sets the real window. After hours, the answering line takes the details and the on-call technician calls you back.

Do you give prices before starting work?

Yes. Repairs are priced in writing before we start. Replacements come as written options with model numbers so you can compare.

Are heat pumps worth it in our climate?

Our winters are mild and damp, which is close to ideal for a heat pump. Whether it pays off for your home depends on what you heat with now. We show the comparison at the visit.

What rebates can I get?

Utility and state rebates change through the year. We confirm what you qualify for at the visit and link you to the official program. We do not promise amounts we cannot verify. The federal heat pump tax credit ended for systems installed after December 31, 2025.

Do you offer financing?

Yes, through a third-party lender, subject to credit approval. Terms are on the financing page.

Three questions and you are booked
